Baptism

Baptism has only started to improve my life. It has already influenced some of the decisions that I’ve been making. It has already given me hope for the future. My parents haven’t taken my baptism whole hardily. I know that they may not believe in my decision or what I have chosen to be part of this religion, I know that one day I’ll be able to meet with them and everything will work out. I know this though the baptism of the dead. Eventually someone or even me will be able to get baptized in there name if they choose not to be baptized while on earth. Jesus Christ answers all of our prayers as long as your sincere as Nephi was in 2 Nephi 3-4. I pray for things to work out and I know that they will as long as I live righteously.

I want to expand on how this affects my life. Everyone who chooses to be baptized chooses to live a certain way. The reason I chose to get baptized was in part because of how everyone around me lives. I came here and I wasn’t perfect. No one is but as I came here my perspective changed. Being around people who strive to do the right thing helps me to do the same. It keeps me out of trouble and away from the things that I shouldn’t be doing. What I love most about being here is that I have so many friends who support and care for me. What was really cool is a conversation that I had with Rhyan. Rhyan has given me so much advice. He is my other brother as we say from another mother. What I am trying to say is when we sat down to talk about myself getting baptized, he was skeptical. He asked why am I getting baptized and is it for the right reasons? I told him that day all the reasons for making the decision to make a covenant with Jesus Christ. As I told him the story what he realized is that some of the advice that he’s give me was coming out of my mouth. There I think he and I realized that in part of how Christ does works through us, Rhyan did some of that through me and that is part of my testimony.

Sports

Sports have grown and is a major part in the lives of Americans. Wether they engage in sports to be active or for entertainment. Regardless there is major influence that comes from the athletes who aren’t just on a national stage but on an international stage. Associations like the NBA and NFL, where there is a lot of player diversity, athletes come form around the world to compete. They are a big part of what they younger generation looks at. Although drug testing may violate civil rights I argue that the effects of drug testing outweigh the rights of an individual. The reasons why the effects out weigh a person rights is it protects the athletes and the fans, keeps the integrity of the sport, and it eliminates drug abuse among athletes as well as the fan base that look up to them.

Spring Break

Oh yes! It's that time of the year. The days are longer and the sun is shining. So it's time for spring break. Too bad we don't have one. Yes the life of living at BYU. I love this school so much and I do see a reason that there is no spring break but come on it's college. My spring break dream for this year is to drive to California and just relax for a week. It doesn't make a difference to me that we don't have a spring break because of the fact that we are competing throughout this whole semester. I love California so much and I've only been there three times now. Every time was an experience worth having. This is why I think we should have spring break or at least a four day weekend. It gives us times as students to catch up on work, gives us time to relax and the availability to rejuvenate to finish the semester. Spring break is a must.

March Madness

Awe the time of the year were basketball is taken serious. The NBA is in the final stretch of the season and well of course the race to a NCAA championship is underway. Its great! Three weeks of nothing but basketball. It the time when people actually care about college basketball. It's what we call bracket season. Selection sunday when we find out who make the NCAA tournament and then monday as the brackets are printed off. Office pools, friendly competitions, or maybe just for yourself to see if you can predict a champion. I love this season but I usually follow sports. What I find amusing is that people who don't care just get into this time to watch sports and they talk about who's better not know one statistic about a player, club, or coach. I thinks it's okay to talk as long as you know what's going on but when people are rambling because of what they heard it takes away form the sport.

Trillion Dollar Debt!

Why are we in a recession? It because of credit! Credit debt is in the trillions. It increases so much that every minute the total rises by thousands. So why the recession. In our great depression that we fell into was because of credit. People were borrowing money and they weren't able to pay it back. You know the term "History repeats itself." Well it looks like it's happening again. Many people have substantial credit card debt and are unable to pay it off. The reason we slipped into this recession was because of the housing situation. When people were borrowing money from banks and were unable to pay it back. Foreclosures occurred and with the delicate balance that we have. It left the economy unstable. How do we get out of this recession. Is it trough our leaders, president, governors, local politicians? Simple, we create jobs and then spark the economy but first and foremost we have to get out of this war. Recession, yea, but we put ourselves in that situation.

Video Games: Good or Bad?

The world as we see it is changing. Video games are becoming more integrated in our lives as we integrate technology more and more. When people think of video games the first thing that come to their mind is a waste of time. In some cases this may be true but what people don't realize is that the gaming world isn't all that bad. Video gaming may be considered a hobby. That is people do it for fun or even professionally. It may be considered bad at this point because there are people who spend 8 to 10 hours on a couch playing this games. It leads to overweigh and health problems. The other had that encompasses gaming are instructional games. Little kids use games that help them learn rather then waste time. Games like these or gaming in moderation is very useful in the health of a person in a society where technology is taking over.

Winning

There is not better feeling in the world when you come up with a victory but do you get recognition for it? There is more then one way to achieve victory. There is the physical victory, mental, and spiritual victory. The one I want to talk about is the physical. The other two to come in a later blog. This weekend the men's track team won conference. It was a great win this year and it adds to our winning reputation. Everyone performed well. On the other hand there was another battle for conference in another sport. They didn't win. Who's going to get recognition? Although basketball lost there more likely to have bigger news then the track team. Excuse me track teams. The track teams are so oblivious to anyones minds that it almost doesn't exist on campus and what people fail to realize is that track is the most winningest sport on campus and constant as far as the mountain west. Sports is politics and well basketball and football are just two powerful
